Drop/Add Period

You can make changes to your academic schedule during the drop/add period.  There are hundreds of transactions that happen during this time, so if you did not leave your transition seminar with the perfect schedule, there is an opportunity to adjust.

Drop/add begins Wednesday, January 18 (the first day of classes) at 8 a.m. and ends Tuesday, January 24 at 11:59 p.m.  You do not need a PIN to make changes.  However, if you are a new spring transfer student, it is highly recommended that you speak to your academic advisor before making a change.  Your academic advisor's contact information can be found on myRedDragon.

Class registration in myRedDragon shuts down every night between midnight and 6:00 am, so you cannot make changes to your schedule in the middle of the night!

Walk-in advising assistance is available to all students in the Advisement and Transition Office, Memorial Library, A-111, during normal work hours:  8 a.m. - 4:30 pm.

Students living in the residence halls may also have an academic peer mentor (APM) on staff that can assist with registration questions.

Best of luck to you as you begin your spring classes!

¨  Understand your CAPP report.  Your Curriculum Advising and Program Planning (CAPP) report details all your requirements for graduation.  Found on myRedDragon, this is a valuable tool to keep you on track.

¨  Check your Cortland email daily.  Your Cortland email account is the primary way the College will correspond with you, so it is important to regularly check your account.  Your email address typically is firstname.lastname@cortland.edu

¨  Pay attention to dates and deadlines.   Many academic deadlines are firm, so become familiar with them.  Many deadlines can be found here; additional dates can be found in your Student Planner.

Transfer Buddy

Returning transfer students have volunteered to serve as a buddy to new transfer students.  You will receive a buddy, and contact information will be shared between the two of you.  Your Transfer Buddy makes the initial contact, and the amount of correspondence can be as frequent as you’d like.  Transfer Buddies are available to respond to questions or concerns, perhaps inviting you to events that they may be attending, or to answer a quick question about the best place to eat on campus.  The relationship depends on what you need and there are no assigned meetings.
